How About This Winter Weahter

Alcohol ,Drug Addiction and Recovery
Step One - "We admitted we were powerless over alcohol--that our lives had become unmanageable."

Under the lash of alcoholism, we are driven to A.A., and there we discover the fatal nature of our situation. Then, and only then, do we become as open-minded to conviction and as willing to listen as the dying can be. We stand ready to do anything which will lift the merciless obsession from us

We as a church believe that alcoholism and drug addiction is a very big problem .We  fill  the Best way to address this problem is to have our hand out all the time and for that we are responsible as a church and a community.

  Need Some Help Now .
There is a solution ! You or the one you love or care about does not have to go on living in
the hell of addiction without knowing a way out .
First you must understand you are not fighting lack of will power or someone who just does not want to stop you are fighting a  disease. One that you fight like any other disease you find out what you need to battle addiction and once you get the tools you most use them daily just like  a diabetic must take their medicine daily.
In active addiction a person is capable of about anything ;however that does mean they are bad people they just have a bad disease that is all consuming very powerful and cunning. They still love their love ones they still care. Its the addiction the disease that drives them and with out it or I should say getting it under control you or your love one can live a pretty normal life (I use the word NORMAL for lack of a better word remember NOREMAL  is a subjective word in this case)
Okay now having said all that let me move on to some things you can do. If you are worried about a love one the worst thing you can do is nothing .If you think there is a problem then more than likely there is a problem. It is not your fault and you can not fix it !!Let me say that again IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT AND YOU CAN NOT FIX IT. Please tell the person what you think, offer some help by giving them phone numbers of people, or for a Recovery treatment centers. You can get these phone numbers right out of your local phone book. If you are in my area witch is north east Ohio you can call me Roy P.

There are many elements to recovery; don't get over whelmed we all do it one day at a time .
Let me give a couple of the first steps .If you are a addict( I use the word addict for alcohol or drugs okay ).
Ask yourself this are you powerless over your addiction (alcohol or drugs) and is your life out of control?
If you can admit that you have no control over your addiction and your life is out of control or unmanageable you have the 1st step done .
The next step you may need help with but I will give it to you any way 2) We came to believe that a power greater than our self could restore use to sanity. That enough for now
NOW IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO TAKE ACTION THE CLOCK IS TICKING AND GOD IS WAITING
TO HELP LET ME ADD

Instructions on Worship
1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all men the testimony given in its proper time. 7And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle I am telling the truth, I am not lying and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles.

8I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

  .
KNOW GOD; KNOW PEACE
It is plain that a life which includes deep resentment leads only to futility and unhappiness. . . . But with the alcoholic, whose hope is the maintenance and growth of a spiritual experience, this business of resentment is infinitely grave.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p 66

Know God;
Know peace.

No God;
No peace.

Down To Earth, p. 178
Those of us who have spent much time in the world of spiritual make-believe have eventually seen the childishness of it. This dream world has been replaced by a great sense of purpose, accompanied by a growing consciousness of the power of God in our lives.

We have come to believe He would like us to keep our heads in the clouds with Him, but that our feet ought to be firmly planted on earth. That is where our work must be done. These are the realities for us. We have found nothing incompatible between a powerful spiritual experience and a life of sane and happy usefulness.

Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 130

Step Eleven - "Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out."

Of course, it is reasonable and understandable that the question is often asked: "Why can't we take a specific and troubling dilemma straight to God, and in prayer secure from Him sure and definite answers to our requests?" This can be done, but it has hazards. We have seen A.A.'s ask with much earnestness and faith for God's explicit guidance on matters ranging all the way from a shattering domestic or financial crisis to correcting a minor personal fault, like tardiness. Quite often, however, the thoughts that seem to come from God are not answers at all. They prove to be well-intentioned unconscious rationalizations. The A.A., or indeed any man, who tries to run his life rigidly by this kind of prayer, by this self-serving demand of God for replies, is a particularly disconcerting individual. To any questioning or criticism of his actions he instantly proffers his reliance upon prayer for guidance in all matters great or small. He may have forgotten the possibility that his own wishful thinking and the human tendency to rationalize have distorted his so-called guidance. With the best of intentions, he tends to force his own will into all sorts of situations and problems with the comfortable assurance that he is acting under God's specific direction. Under such an illusion, he can of course create great havoc without in the least intending it.

p. 103-104

Some can find fault in everything, but it takes a good and loving heart to find goodness, especially when it is less than obvious. Lord, bless me with gentleness and patience and the determination not to complain.

There is much wisdom in knowing what to overlook. Lord, may I take every opportunity to praise and choose carefully when I feel the need to criticize.

You have the choice to do or not to do and realizing this allows you to accomplish more than you thought possible. Lord, help me make wise decisions with my time and not allow the pressures of life to drain my effectiveness.

Often times that which we find difficult is that which teaches. Lord, may I always be able to see the good that comes from even my trials.

Ask and you shall receive,
Seek and ye shall find,
Knock and it shall be opened unto you.
Matthew 7:7

Thank You Recovery universe
